SINCE THE POINT OF JWRNAL IS TO SHOWCASE MAKERS AND CREATIVES IN WALES, SO, SEEING AS MY JOB IS TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE, IT SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT THAT I TELL YOU A BIT ABOUT MYSELF.
I'm Sarah, I was born and bred in the North Wales hills. I made my escape to London (via Leeds and Berlin) and inevitably made the big move back to the middle of nowhere at the start of 2017 (and I haven't looked back)
My background is in Fashion Design, specifically menswear. During my MA I started researching into the history of traditional crafts and textiles in Wales and what it is that makes up my own cultural identity. From this, I began creating menswear combining elements of Welsh tradition, heritage, craft, design and rural skills.
This was really the beginning of Jwrnal, as I started to discover the plethora of makers and creatives in our tiny country and just wanted to shout about it, as well as making some great friends along the way.
I have worked in the Fashion Industry as Designer, and continue to work on freelance design projects, I'm an Associate Lecturer and throw in a few restaurant shifts for good measure.
I am hugely passionate about Wales and I am always open to ideas, conversations and collaborations with like minded people who share a similar passion. thank you for following Jwrnal, I hope you enjoy what you have seen, and hope you continue to do so!
