SEEING AS MY JOB IS TO TELL YOU ALL ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE, IT SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT THAT I TELL YOU A BIT ABOUT MYSELF.
I'm Sarah, I was born and bred in the North Wales hills. I made my escape to London -via Leeds and Berlin- and inevitably made the big move back to the middle of nowhere at the start of 2017, and I haven't looked back.
My background is in menswear design. During my MA I started researching into the history of traditional crafts and textiles in Wales and what it is that makes up my own cultural identity. From this, I began creating menswear combining elements of Welsh tradition, heritage, craft, rural skills and contemporary design.
Without knowing it at the time, this was the beginning of Jwrnal.
During my research I started to discover the vast community of makers and creatives in our tiny country and I wanted to shout about it. On my return to Wales, I continued to research; meeting people, making friends and creating opportunities to work together.
Jwrnal is very much a passion project of mine. For work, I am marketing and events manager for the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop, The Glynne Arms and the Hawarden Castle Pavilion. Occasionally I am a visiting lecturer in fashion design. I write freelance and this year, I am curating the craft areas for The Good Life Experience Festival.
I am hugely passionate about Wales and I am always open to ideas, conversations and collaborations with like minded people who share a similar passion.
Thank you for following Jwrnal, I hope you enjoy what you have seen, and continue to do so!
